New update — 17.10.2026 · 07:11 Athens time

Thriasio Hospital announced on 16 October that two casualties were transferred from Motor Oil’s facilities on 15 October at 19:29 and underwent surgery.

According to the hospital’s 16 October assessment, neither patient’s life was in danger. One was in intensive care for postoperative monitoring and was not intubated. This is not a medical bulletin issued today.

The statement concerns two patients transferred to the hospital, not a full casualty count or findings on the causes. The new incident is separate from the 9 October accident, whose background is retained below.

Background — the fatal 9 October accident

The 50-year-old had been intubated in intensive care at Thriasio Hospital with a serious head injury. The latest information about his death is attributed to ERT's 11 October report.

The incident at Agioi Theodoroi

The workers, aged 43 and 50, were injured during maintenance work at Motor Oil's Agioi Theodoroi facilities when a pressure release occurred, according to the Hellenic Police statement. The 43-year-old died at Thriasio Hospital on 9 October.

The hospital had said that the two intubated casualties arrived at 14:00. The first died at 16:48; the second remained in critical condition in intensive care until the latest development.

Criminal and workplace investigation

ERT reported on 10 October that four people had been arrested and taken before the Corinth prosecutor. The official police statement of 9 October confirmed the arrest of the 59-year-old works supervisor.

The Labour Inspectorate was notified and an autopsy ordered. The precise causes and responsibility remain under investigation. Arrests are not a judicial finding of guilt.
