Updated 14.10.2026 · 17:06 Athens time — What changed

On 14 October, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food announced aid of 40 cents per litre of fishing fuel for September and October 2026, following coordination with the Ministry of National Economy and Finance.

This adds a specific rate for the new two-month period to the 7 October announcement. That announcement covered 32 cents per litre for April–May and 24 cents for June–August. The rates cover different periods and are not added together.

A separate measure for damaged fishing nets

A measure with a total budget of €15 million was also announced for coastal fishers whose nets were damaged by protected marine species, such as dolphins, seals and sea turtles.

According to the ministry, funding was secured through reallocation within the 2021–2027 Fisheries, Aquaculture and Sea programme. The total budget is not an individual compensation amount.

What remains pending

The new release does not specify an application opening, supporting documents, an implementing act or a payment date for either new measure. It does not certify payment or announce a general pump-price discount. Complete terms require the relevant decisions or calls.

The earlier €41 million in payments recalled by the ministry were made in 2024–2025 for damage during 2022–2024; they are not payment under the new measure.
