Greece's Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports announced 2,096 new temporary substitute-teacher and specialist-staff appointments for the 2026–2027 teaching year on 9 October 2026.

How the appointments are distributed

  • Primary education: 939 teachers in mainstream education and 25 in parallel support.
  • Secondary education: 1,000 in mainstream education and 22 in parallel support.
  • Sivitanidios School: 20 additional substitutes appointed by its board — 19 in mainstream education and one in parallel support.
  • Specialist educational and support staff (EEP–EBP): 86 appointments.
  • Public Onassis Schools: four mainstream secondary-education teachers.

Of the 86 specialist staff, 20 are assigned to special-education schools, 12 to specialised educational support, four to KEDASY assessment and support centres, and 50 to ZEP reception classes.

Reporting for duty and appointment lists

In the Public Onassis Schools section, the announcement specifies reporting to the relevant secondary-education directorates from Thursday 15 to Friday 16 October 2026.

Appointees should check the list for their own category and the ministry's instructions on placement and reporting for duty. Mainstream, special-education, specialist-staff and Onassis appointment lists accompany the original announcement.
