Previous updates — history
One month before the scheduled opening, Dakar is preparing to host the fourth Summer Youth Olympic Games. The Senegal event is scheduled for 31 October to 13 November 2026.
This will be the first time the event is hosted in Africa. Its official programme combines youth sport with a different approach to the structure of the sports.
These are the Youth Olympic Games, distinct from the senior Summer Olympics. The dates describe the planned event. Detailed competition schedules and entries require checking official announcements before each individual event.
