DYPA: training for 30 inmates in Chania starts on 2 November
Two groups of 15 will take a 250-hour building-maintenance course, according to today’s announcement.

Greece’s Public Employment Service, DYPA, announced a vocational course scheduled to start at Chania Correctional Facility on Monday 2 November 2026. It covers 30 inmates in two groups of 15, studying building maintenance.
The course lasts 250 hours and is supervised by DYPA’s Agios Ioannis Rentis Lifelong Learning Centre. The 30 October release establishes the planned start; it does not show that training has been completed or jobs secured for participants.
Course content
The syllabus covers building materials, corrective maintenance and repairs, plumbing and electromechanical faults, and basic carpentry and construction work.
The programme forms part of cooperation with the General Secretariat for Anti-Crime Policy. DYPA describes skills development and reintegration after release as its aims. This announcement does not open applications to the general public or specify a training allowance.
