Public-sector pensions: online old-age applications from 2 November, insured-person death claims from 9 November

e-EFKA announced a phased replacement of handwritten applications. Prior termination of the employment relationship is required, and steps through the employer’s personnel department remain.

e-EFKA announced on 23 October 2026 that pension applications for insured people in the former public-sector scheme will become exclusively electronic in two stages during November. The change concerns submission, rather than new pension amounts or payment dates.

Two activation dates

  • Monday 2 November 2026: old-age applications for main and supplementary pensions, lump-sum benefits and the Civil Servants’ Share Fund (MTPY).
  • Monday 9 November 2026: corresponding applications following the death of an insured person.

The announcement provides for future activation at these stages. It does not say the new process is already operating on 23 October.

Prerequisite and access

Final submission requires prior termination of the employment relationship, for example through resignation, the age limit or military retirement. This is a procedural prerequisite described by the agency.

Access will be through e-EFKA’s official website using personal TAXISnet credentials. The route provided by the agency is Electronic Services → Civil Servants & Public-Law Legal Entities → Public-Sector Electronic Service for Pension and Lump-Sum Applications → Enter the service (menu labels translated from Greek). Applicants then select the appropriate application type.

If personal details cannot be matched

The agency requires details to be updated in the AMKA-EMAES register and the National Communication Register (EMEp). Alternatively, it specifies a 15-day deadline to attend the registry department of the local e-EFKA directorate for the applicant’s place of residence, with a printed application preview.

After online submission

The applicant must print the submission receipt and lodge it with the personnel or administration department of the employer they are leaving. The department completes the e-DAUK/DAUK service record or a certificate of service changes, then forwards the application, supporting documents and service records to the competent e-EFKA body or MTPY.

Online submission therefore does not mean automatic award. The announcement does not guarantee a particular decision time.

Procedural support is available through the free 1555 telephone line and the digital service at 1555.gov.gr. Application technical issues can be sent to tm.web@efka.gov.gr; matters within MTPY’s remit are handled through its own website.
