ELGA: 30 October deadline for the 2025 contribution linked to compensation eligibility
The new deadline concerns the 2025 Special Insurance Contribution, whose previous deadline was 31 July. Timely payment is a condition for the related compensation claims.
The deadline for paying ELGA's 2025 Special Insurance Contribution has been extended to Friday, 30 October 2026, according to a notice sent by the organisation to insured farmers and reported by Greece's public broadcaster ERT on 8 October.
The previous deadline expired on 31 July 2026. The announcement says the extension is based on a decision by ELGA's board and a joint ministerial decision by the ministers responsible for agriculture and national economy and finance.
Which compensation is covered
Farmers are asked to settle the 2025 contribution by the new date in order to remain eligible for compensation under the “Pre-flowering 2025” programme and the small number of remaining compensation payments for damage incurred in the same year.
The extension concerns the insurance obligation and does not in itself approve a compensation payment. The requirements applying to each damage claim and the legislation in force still have to be met.
Why the date is critical
ELGA notes that, under Law 3877/2010, a farmer who has not paid the Special Insurance Contribution for the reference year on time cannot receive the corresponding compensation.
The announcement describes 30 October as a strict final deadline. It does not announce a further extension after that date, nor does payment alone automatically enrol a farmer for compensation.
