Fed holds rate range at 3.75%–4% in a 10–2 vote
The 28 October decision maintains the range. Lisa Cook and Beth Hammack preferred a 25-basis-point increase; subsequent decisions remain open.

The Federal Reserve maintained its federal funds target range at 3.75%–4% on 28 October 2026, confirmed by the official FOMC release and accessible Reuters reporting. The statement was issued at 14:00 EDT — 20:00 Athens.
Two members preferred an increase
The decision passed by 10 votes to 2. Lisa D. Cook and Beth M. Hammack preferred a 0.25-percentage-point, or 25-basis-point, increase.
The committee assesses economic activity as expanding at a strong pace while inflation remains elevated. It says more information will help determine the appropriate policy stance toward the 2% inflation objective. These are the Fed’s assessments; the statement does not commit to an increase or decrease at the next meeting.
Implementation from 29 October
The separate implementation note maintains interest on banks’ reserve balances at 3.90%, effective 29 October. This is a separate operational rate from the 3.75%–4% target range.
