Fuel subsidies have been extended through 15 November 2026, according to the economy and finance and environment and energy ministries’ joint announcement on 30 October. The new period is 1–15 November, with rates unchanged from the second half of October.

State support and additional discounts

  • Heating oil: 20 cents of state support plus a 20-cent refinery discount per litre; total announced relief of 40 cents.
  • Road diesel: 15 cents of state support plus a 5-cent refinery discount per litre; total relief of 20 cents.
  • 95-octane petrol: 10 cents of state support per litre; total announced relief of 10 cents.

The ministries estimate the fiscal cost of this specific fortnight’s extension at €35 million. Commercial discounts are identified separately from state support.

Support through the sale price continues for the new period. The separate heating allowance and its announced application timetable remain in the article history; today’s announcement does not open that application platform. The relief amounts do not guarantee a final retail price.

Previous updates — history

Updated 14.10.2026 · 14:10 Athens time — What changed

On 14 October, the Ministries of National Economy and Finance and Environment and Energy detailed the fuel package, adding amounts and a timetable to the earlier announcement. Price reductions and the heating allowance are two different mechanisms.

What was announced for the sale price

State support is planned at 20 cents per litre of heating oil and 15 cents per litre of road diesel, from 15 through 31 October. For 95-octane unleaded petrol, 10 cents per litre was announced from 17 through 31 October.

According to the joint announcement, refinery discounts add 20 cents for heating oil and 5 cents for diesel. The total announced benefit is therefore 40 cents for heating oil, 20 cents for diesel and 10 cents for petrol.

For this mechanism, the ministries state that support applies to the sale price without applications or income criteria. This does not remove the application and eligibility criteria for the separate heating allowance.

The allowance for winter 2026–2027

A 30% increase is announced for all subsidised heating sources, with the maximum amount rising to €1,560 from €1,200. Income and property criteria remain unchanged, according to the ministries. The maximum is not automatically paid to every recipient.

The application platform is expected to open by 10 November and the advance payment is planned by 23 December 2026. This is an announced timetable, not applications or payments already in progress. Complete terms require the implementing decision and the official service’s instructions.

Not a guaranteed €1.55 price

The ministries estimate an initial supported heating-oil price of approximately €1.55 per litre, within a €1.50–€1.60 range. It depends on international prices and is not a universally guaranteed tariff. The approximately €1.35 cost cited is a government estimate after the allowance for eligible recipients, not the pump price paid by everyone.

Previous update — 13 October, 17:10: the 30% increase and heating-oil support had been announced; amounts and dates were detailed on 14 October.
