Updated 31.10.2026 · 17:04, Athens time — What changed

Red rain warnings for Central and Eastern Macedonia and the Dodecanese are included in new official HNMS CAP messages distributed through MeteoAlarm, issued on 31 October for Sunday 1 November. Some warning windows extend into the early hours of Monday. All times below are Athens time.

Red rain warnings

  • Central and Eastern Macedonia: from 11:00 on 1 November to 01:59 on 2 November. The messages forecast possible rainfall above 60 mm in 12 hours.
  • Dodecanese: from 14:00 on 1 November to 01:59 on 2 November, with possible rainfall above 80 mm in 12 hours.

Orange level

Rain: Central and Eastern Macedonia from 02:00 to 11:00 on 1 November, Eastern Peloponnese from 02:00 to 17:00, and Thrace from 14:00 on 1 November to 01:59 on 2 November.

Thunderstorms: Ionian Islands from 02:00 to 16:00 on 1 November; Epirus, Western Central Greece, Western and Eastern Peloponnese from 02:00 to 20:00; Central and Eastern Macedonia from 02:00 on 1 November to 01:59 on 2 November; Northeastern Aegean islands from 16:00 on 1 November to 01:59 on 2 November; Dodecanese from 17:00 on 1 November to 01:59 on 2 November.

Yellow rain warnings for 1 November

  • Western Macedonia from 02:00 to 14:00 and Attica from 05:00 to 20:00.
  • Thrace from 08:00 to 14:00 and the Dodecanese from 02:00 to 14:00, before the higher warning levels that follow.
  • Cyclades from 11:00 on 1 November to 01:59 on 2 November, and Northeastern Aegean islands from 02:00 on 1 November to 01:59 on 2 November.
  • Eastern Central Greece and Evia from 02:00 to 23:00; Thessaly, Western Peloponnese, Epirus, Western Central Greece and the Ionian Islands from 02:00 to 20:00.

The red messages warn of a serious risk of flooding and to life, possible evacuations and disruption to travel and networks. This is a risk forecast, not confirmation of flooding or an evacuation order. A red MeteoAlarm warning does not by itself establish an administrative Red Code decision or a new 112 message.

Civil Protection advises avoiding streams on foot or in vehicles, including for hours after rainfall, securing objects and checking gutters. Today’s 31 October warnings and the general 1–2 November bulletin retain their separate time limits.

Previous updates — history

Updated 31.10.2026 · 14:03, Athens time — What changed

A new HNMS extraordinary weather deterioration bulletin, issued on 31 October and published in detail by Civil Protection, forecasts severe weather from the early hours of Sunday 1 November through at least Monday 2 November. Western and northern Greece and the eastern islands are the main areas concerned, with heavy rain, thunderstorms and possible local hail.

Sunday 1 November

  • Ionian Islands: from the early hours until midday.
  • Epirus, western Central Greece, western and southern Peloponnese: from early morning until the afternoon.
  • Central and eastern Macedonia: from the morning until late at night.
  • Northern and eastern Aegean islands: from the afternoon until late at night.
  • Dodecanese: from the afternoon.

Monday 2 November

  • Ionian Islands: intermittently from the morning.
  • Epirus, western Central Greece and western Peloponnese: from the afternoon until late at night.
  • Dodecanese: intermittently until the evening.

Civil Protection says it has notified the relevant services, regions and municipalities to maintain heightened readiness. Its advice includes checking gutters, securing objects that could be swept away and avoiding streams on foot or in vehicles, including for hours after rainfall. During thunderstorms it advises avoiding outdoor work and activities at sea and along the coast.

This is a forecast and preparation advice for 1–2 November, not a report of flooding already taking place. No precise expiry hour is invented where the bulletin uses a descriptive time window. Separate warnings for 31 October retain their own limits and are not automatically extended.

Previous updates — history

Updated 31.10.2026 · 13:04, Athens time — What changed

Official HNMS CAP warnings distributed through MeteoAlarm include yellow-level warnings for Saturday 31 October. The full messages, areas, onset and expiry times were checked. All times below are converted to Athens time.

In effect at the time of checking

  • Central Macedonia: rain from 02:00 to 23:59 and thunderstorms from 02:00 to 20:00, mainly in coastal and marine areas, with the Thermaic Gulf specified.
  • Epirus: locally intense rain from 11:00 to 20:00.
  • Ionian Islands: a rain warning mainly for northern parts from 02:00 to 14:00. Separate rain and thunderstorm messages from 14:00 to 23:59 focus mainly on southern parts, with Zakynthos and Kefalonia specified for rain.

Starting later today

  • Western Central Greece: rain from 17:00 to 23:59, mainly in coastal areas.
  • Western Peloponnese: rain and thunderstorms from 17:00 to 23:59, mainly in coastal areas.
  • Dodecanese: rain and thunderstorms from 20:00 to 23:59, mainly in southeastern marine and coastal areas.

HNMS highlights possible local flooding, difficult driving due to reduced visibility and slippery roads, and disruption to outdoor activities. These are warnings about possible impacts, not confirmation that flooding has already occurred.

The times apply to these specific 31 October messages. They are not automatically extended to subsequent days and do not constitute a new 112 message or a Red Code decision.

Previous updates — history

Updated 30.10.2026 · 00:08, Athens time — What changed

The Red Code mobilisation period through 29 October inclusive, specified by the official Civil Protection decision, has passed. The 30 October review found no new extension in that decision or the official announcement feed. The previous period is not presented as active on 30 October.

No precise lifting time is attributed to the authority, and no general end to local risks is inferred. Earlier daily forecasts and advice for 28 October remain in the history.

The separate Platanias instruction

The original 28 October post by the official 112 Greece account for Platanias, Magnesia remains published: move to higher floors because of flooding and follow the authorities’ instructions. It gives no expiry time. It is not presented as a new 30 October message or extended to all of Pelion. The date change for Red Code does not itself establish that this separate local instruction has been lifted.

Previous updates — history

Updated 29.10.2026 · 01:06, Athens time — What changed

At the 29 October check, Civil Protection’s official decision continues to specify Red Code mobilisation through 29 October inclusive for Evia, Phthiotis, Boeotia, Sporades, Magnesia, Larissa, Attica, Dodecanese and North Aegean. No precise expiry time is given. This is operational readiness, not a new HNMS forecast.

The addition of the Cyclades applied only to 28 October and is not automatically carried into 29 October. Likewise, the forecast colour warnings for 28 October and travel restrictions explicitly tied to that date remain in the history, without being presented as new advice for today.

The separate official 112 post for Platanias, Magnesia remains available: move to higher floors because of flooding and follow the authorities’ instructions. No expiry time is provided, and the instruction is not extended to all of Pelion. The date change does not establish that this local instruction has been lifted.

Previous updates — history

Updated 28.10.2026 · 18:10, Athens time — What changed

The original post by the official 112 Greece account confirms a 28 October 2026 message for Platanias in Magnesia regional unit: people there are instructed to move to higher floors because of flooding and follow the authorities’ instructions.

The message gives no end time or instruction to travel to another named settlement. It applies to Platanias and is not extended to all of Pelion. ERTnews reports overflowing water and access problems in the area. The warning was checked against the official post, rather than the RSS or a mobile message received here.

Updated 28.10.2026 · 16:08, Athens time — What changed

Today’s notice from the Central Greece Regional Police Directorate adds travel information: on 28 October 2026, traffic is operating with snow chains on these road sections.

  • Evrytania: Karpenisi–Krikello–Domnista, km 12–24.
  • Karpenisi–Fourna–Karditsa, km 12–48.
  • Karpenisi–Stenoma–Domianoi, km 8–35.
  • Karpenisi–Fidakia–Agia Vlacherna, km 8–33.
  • Karpenisi–Karpenisi Ski Centre, km 6–13.
  • Fthiotida: Lamia–Karpenisi national road, km 52–64.7.

The notice gives no end time. It concerns these sections, rather than a blanket traffic ban across both regional units. Weather warnings and the Red Code operational mobilisation have separate time limits, set out below.

Previous updates — history

Updated 28.10.2026 · 13:59, Athens time — What changed

Civil Protection published the current HNMS bulletin update on 28 October, providing the primary confirmation unavailable at our previous update. It forecasts rain and thunderstorms mainly in eastern Greece, with possible local hail.

Areas and periods for 28 October

  • Red warning: Magnesia and Larissa, Sporades and Evia until late at night. The Dodecanese also has a red warning for today, without a more specific end time in the text.
  • Orange warning: eastern Aegean islands until late evening; eastern Central Greece, mainly Phocis, Phthiotis and Boeotia, intermittently until late at night.

Phocis is explicitly included in today’s list. Earlier forecast periods for Attica and the Cyclades are not automatically extended. Today’s announcement does not lift the separate operational Red Code mobilisation: the Cyclades were announced for 28 October, and the other previously listed areas through 29 October inclusive. No precise expiry time is invented.

The separate official 112 instructions issued on 27 October request essential travel only throughout 28 October in Magnesia, Sporades and Evia. These are separate instructions, rather than mobile messages received through RSS. Civil Protection advises avoiding streams during rain and for hours afterwards, securing loose objects and checking gutters. The forecast does not establish that severe conditions have occurred at every location.

Previous updates — history

Updated 28.10.2026 · 08:12, Athens time — What changed

Confirmed local decisions for 28 October 2026 are supplemented from official notices dated 27 October that had not been incorporated in the previous update. The municipalities of Thira and Paros announce that the parade component involving school pupils, associations, organisations and clubs will not take place, implementing decision 2663 of 27 October 2026 by the Cyclades Deputy Regional Governor.

In the municipality of Oropos, school parades are cancelled in every municipal unit and community. Church services, memorial prayers and wreath-laying remain on the previously announced programme.

The municipality of Dirfys–Messapia, in its notice signed on 27 October by Mayor Antonios Spyropoulos, cancels the planned parade. Church services in its municipal units will go ahead, with school flag bearers and escorts asked to attend at the scheduled time.

These individual decisions do not cancel all anniversary events across Attica, Evia or the South Aegean. The implementation confirmed here concerns the named municipalities; it does not independently establish arrangements for every other island or the military parade component. Previously published decisions for Magnesia, Sporades and Agios Dimitrios, 112 advice and Red Code periods remain distinct in the history below.

Updated 27.10.2026 · 22:03, Athens time — School-parade decision

In decision 403802 dated 27 October 2026, Thessaly Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas cancels the school parades scheduled for Wednesday 28 October in the regional units of Magnesia and Sporades, to protect participants and spectators from the forecast dangerous weather.

The decision applies exclusively to school parades in these two regional units. Other anniversary events remain subject to decisions by the competent authorities in light of conditions. It does not cancel every parade across Thessaly or separately determine whether the military parade segment will take place.

The full signed text on Diavgeia matches the Region’s official announcement and ERT’s report. It requests immediate notification of schools and, through them, pupils and parents or guardians. Cancellation is a separate administrative decision; the 112 guidance and distinct Red Code periods remain as set out below.

112 guidance, Red Code and earlier updates

Updated 27.10.2026 · 20:13, Athens time — New 112 guidance

The official 112 Greece posts dated 27 October confirm a warning for the regional units of Magnesia, Sporades and Evia. With rain and thunderstorms forecast, locally heavy, residents are asked to limit travel to strictly essential journeys throughout Wednesday 28 October 2026 and follow the authorities’ instructions.

The instruction concerns these three regional units. It does not announce an evacuation or a general traffic ban. This is a separate official 112 warning, not an inference from an RSS feed or Red Code. The previously published mobilisation periods and daily EMY warnings remain separate below.

Red Code, EMY bulletin and earlier updates

Updated 27.10.2026 · 17:07, Athens time — Cyclades added to Red Code

A new Civil Protection announcement on 27 October, following the Risk Assessment Committee meeting, adds the Cyclades regional units to Red Code mobilisation for Wednesday 28 October 2026 because of a high risk of flooding. It gives no exact expiry time and does not extend the Cyclades’ period through 29 October.

For the areas already included — Evia, Fthiotida, Boeotia, Sporades, Magnesia, Larissa, Attica, Dodecanese and North Aegean — the announcement reiterates mobilisation through Thursday 29 October. Measures decided by the coordinating body on 26 October remain in force today and throughout tomorrow.

The South Aegean Region and Cyclades municipalities are asked to convene their operational coordinating bodies immediately. Red Code concerns the response mechanism’s readiness and is distinct from the colours of EMY’s daily warnings. This announcement is not confirmation of flooding, a direct 112 message or a separate parade-cancellation decision.

Daily warnings and earlier local decisions

Updated 27.10.2026 · 16:22, Athens time — Local parade decision

Agios Dimitrios Municipality announced on 27 October that it is cancelling its scheduled 28 October 2026 parade for safety reasons because of forecast adverse weather. The decision concerns this municipality and does not establish a general cancellation across Attica.

The same notice says the service at Agios Dimitrios church will proceed, with school flag bearers attending at 10:00. Cancelling the parade is a separate administrative decision, not an automatic consequence of Red Code.

The daily EMY warnings and separate mobilisation through 29 October remain as verified in the 13:17 update below. No newer change to the bulletin was found during this check.

Current meteorological update, 27 October, 13:17

Updated 27.10.2026 · 13:17, Athens time — What changed

EMY’s updated bulletin of 27 October 2026, published in full by Civil Protection, changes the warning windows. It forecasts heavy rain and thunderstorms, possibly with local hail, at least through Wednesday 28 October. Accessible ERT reporting corroborates the update.

Tuesday 27 October — orange warnings

  • Magnesia and Larissa, the Sporades and Evia: from the evening.
  • Eastern Central Greece, mainly Fthiotida and Boeotia: from the night.
  • Eastern Aegean islands, from Chios northwards: temporarily until the afternoon.
  • Dodecanese, Rhodes and Kastellorizo: from late midday.

Wednesday 28 October

  • Red: Magnesia and Larissa, the Sporades and Evia until late at night; the Dodecanese, with no precise expiry time in the bulletin.
  • Orange: eastern Aegean islands until late evening; eastern Central Greece, mainly Fthiotida and Boeotia, intermittently until late at night; Attica and the western–northern Cyclades until the morning hours.

Compared with the previous bulletin, Attica’s Wednesday window now ends in the morning rather than at midday, the western and northern Cyclades are added, and the red warning for the Sporades–Evia extends until late at night. The older windows below are retained as history.

The separate Red Code mobilisation

Operational mobilisation from 26 through 29 October remains distinct: Evia, Fthiotida, Boeotia, Sporades, Magnesia, Larissa, Attica, Dodecanese and North Aegean. Attica and the North Aegean are included as a precaution. This does not mean a red meteorological warning across all these areas at all times.

Greek local time. This is a forecast, not confirmation that conditions have already occurred everywhere, a 112 message or automatic cancellation of parades. Civil Protection advises avoiding stream crossings during rain and for hours afterwards, and following local instructions.

Earlier updates — history

Updated 26.10.2026 · 18:06, Athens time — What changed

Areas of Greece have been placed under Red Code mobilisation from 26 through 29 October 2026, according to the Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection’s new announcement on 26 October, following meetings of the Risk Assessment Committee and the coordinating body.

Areas covered by mobilisation

  • The regional units of Evia, Fthiotida and Boeotia.
  • The regional units of Sporades, Magnesia and Larissa.
  • The Attica region.
  • The Dodecanese regional units.
  • The North Aegean region.

For Attica and the North Aegean, the decision is described as precautionary because of conditions left by earlier rainfall. No precise expiry time is given beyond “through 29 October”.

Operational changes

Civil Protection says the Fire Service flood-response plan has been activated, services are on heightened readiness and escalation is possible. Municipalities and regions are asked to convene their coordinating bodies. The armed forces, police, Coast Guard, EKAV and electricity-system operators are on heightened readiness to assist.

Red Code mobilisation is not the same as a red meteorological warning everywhere at all times through Thursday. The EMY bulletin for 26–28 October, with colour-coded warnings by day and area, appears below. Readiness does not establish that flooding has occurred or automatically close schools or cancel parades.

People are urged to follow official instructions and take particular care when travelling. The Risk Assessment Committee is to meet again on Tuesday 27 October.

EMY bulletin for 26–28 October and earlier updates

Updated 26.10.2026 · 14:05, Athens time — What changed

  • Orange: Magnesia–Larissa until evening; Sporades–Evia; eastern Central Greece, mainly Fthiotida–Boeotia, until late afternoon; Attica from evening; eastern Aegean islands.

  • Orange: eastern Aegean islands until late evening; eastern Central Greece, mainly Fthiotida–Boeotia, intermittently until late at night; Attica from the early hours until midday.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast, possibly with local hail. Times are local to Greece. No precise expiry is invented where the bulletin gives none. The warning does not establish that conditions have already occurred everywhere and is not a 112 message, traffic ban or decision cancelling events.

Civil Protection advises avoiding stream crossings during rain and for hours afterwards, avoiding outdoor and maritime activities during severe weather, and following local authorities’ instructions.

Earlier updates — history

Updated 26.10.2026 · 09:10, Athens time — What changed
