Naxos: beaches, Hora and villages in one summer trip

An island for combining beach days with inland routes, rather than spending the entire holiday in Hora.

Choose a base that suits your pace

Hora introduces the island and its Venetian castle. For a beach-focused trip, consider Agios Prokopios, Agia Anna and Plaka. Think about whether you want evening walks in town or to stay near the beach. That choice will shape daily life more than a long list of sights.

A day for the villages

Apeiranthos, Halki and Filoti offer reasons to leave the coast for a while. Choose two stops and leave time for walking and a meal, rather than passing through every village in one day. The interior deserves its own day instead of a rushed interval between swims.

Beach days and local food

Leave room for a long beach stop rather than constant moves. Naxian potatoes, cheeses and citron connect a meal with local production. Ask about where products come from and speak to the people selling them. A small purchase to take home can be a more meaningful souvenir than another hurried excursion.

A four-day suggestion

Spend day one in Hora, day two by the sea, day three in the villages and day four returning to the area you liked most. This is our planning suggestion, not a booked itinerary. Check transport before choosing accommodation; seasonal bus services matter more than map distances if you will not drive.
