Crete: 60 post-storm inspections; two business buildings marked red
Inspections in Ierapetra and Mylopotamos recorded 57 green, one yellow and two red buildings. All 30 homes inspected were marked green.

Update, 7 October 2026, 02:04 Athens time — What changed: The competent services completed 60 inspections in Agios Ioannis, Ierapetra, and Axos, Veni and Zoniana in Mylopotamos.
Two buildings were marked red
Of the 60 buildings, 57 were marked green, one yellow and two red. The two red buildings are business premises in Agios Ioannis, Ierapetra. All 30 homes inspected were marked green.
There were 20 inspections in Agios Ioannis, seven in Axos, 10 in Veni and 23 in Zoniana. Recording continues. The classifications report the outcome of technical checks; they do not in themselves constitute a compensation decision or payment of state aid.
Agricultural assessment
ELGA has opened damage notifications. Producers in the affected areas can file declarations through the organisation's local correspondents. Teams of geotechnical staff will define the affected zones, identify damaged crops and record livestock losses. On-site agricultural assessments will begin when conditions allow, particularly after floodwaters recede.
Recovery work
Priority is being given to reopening road access to livestock units and removing debris so feed and water can reach them. The ministry says equipment for Crete under the AIGIS programme remains an announced next step after the relevant cooperation memorandum, not a completed delivery.
From 1 to 4 October, the Fire Service operations centre received 508 calls in Crete and took action in 214 cases, including water pumping, moving people to safety and cutting trees.
