All primary and secondary schools across the Cyclades are closed today, Wednesday 14 October 2026.

The decision was taken by the South Aegean Region as a precaution to protect public safety and was confirmed by the Cyclades Directorate of Secondary Education.

Who is covered

The official notice covers primary and secondary schools on every island in the Cyclades. The decision is published under the Greek transparency reference 6Ν9Ι7ΛΞ-ΩΝ6.

The notice does not automatically close every other educational or childcare facility run by a different authority. Such facilities require a separate announcement by the responsible municipality or organisation.

Weather context

Greece's Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has an active warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms, possible local hail and very strong northeasterly winds in the Aegean during 14 October.

Students, parents and teachers should follow the latest announcements from the Region, municipalities and local education directorates.
