The Agriculture Ministry says payment is planned by Monday 5 October. Approval does not confirm that funds have reached recipients’ accounts.

Compensation of €7,726,101 for 46,124 culled animals on Lesvos has been approved and is due for payment by Monday 5 October, according to the Agriculture Ministry’s 2 October announcement.

The full statement describes payment as the next step. It does not establish that every recipient has already received the money.

Earlier payments

The ministry reports previous payments of €3,566,450 for culled animals, €1,341,767 for income loss and €2,555,799 for cheesemaking. These are separate from the newly approved compensation.

Veterinary checks continue

The ministry also reports completion of the first identification and tracing cycle, with outstanding issues at 64 active holdings due to refusal of checks, force majeure or unidentified ownership. It does not follow that every holding was inspected without exception.

The next cycle envisages checks at about 300 holdings within the three-kilometre zone. Restocking requires veterinary approval and compliance with health conditions; it is not automatically available to every farm.
