Lithuania: morning air alert lifted — the official times

LT72 records cancellation at 07:51 for Kaunas and Šiauliai, and 08:11 for Panevėžys. A separate police warning about suspicious objects was later issued for Pasvalys.

The air alert has been lifted following warnings issued in parts of Lithuania on Sunday morning, 18 October 2026, after a possible drone detection. The official civil-protection platform LT72 publishes the original warnings and their cancellations separately.

The official timeline

  • 07:09: red warning for Šiauliai and Panevėžys counties, directing people to head immediately to a safe place.
  • 07:51: white all-clear message for Kaunas and Šiauliai counties.
  • 08:11: white all-clear message for Panevėžys county.

These are Lithuanian local times, which match Greek time on this date. The cancellation messages allow normal activities to resume with respect to this particular air alert.

Reuters, via AOL, reports that NATO air-policing fighters were called in and Kaunas Airport temporarily closed while the warning was in force. The all-clear alone does not confirm the schedule of every flight.

Separate guidance in Pasvalys

At 09:35, LT72 published a police message for Pasvalys district: anyone finding a suspicious object should not touch or approach it and should call 112. The entry gives no expiry time. This is separate guidance, not a reactivation of the red alert.

The official notifications refer to a possible drone. They do not identify the object’s origin or identity here; they do not establish an attack or a shootdown.
