Port organisations bill passes parliament; Gazette publication pending
The plenary completed passage on 8 October. The text is not yet presented as a law in force, because publication in the Government Gazette remains pending.

What changed on 8 October
The Hellenic Parliament now records the bill titled “Strengthening the operation of port organisations and other provisions” as a passed bill. Both the vote on its articles and the final vote are dated 8 October 2026.
This completes the parliamentary stage that began when the bill was submitted on 29 September and examined by the Standing Committee on Production and Trade from 2 October. Passage does not by itself establish that every provision is already in force.
What the bill covers
The explanatory fiscal report describes changes to the operating framework of port organisations, with a central focus on pricing policy. For specified port organisations included in the privatisation programme, pricing policy is assigned to the board of directors, while certain berthing and port-infrastructure charges continue to require approval by joint ministerial decision.
The text also contains provisions concerning the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations as a port-planning authority, Souda port, the port zones of Pachi Megara and Mytilene, and insurance of fixed equipment under sub-concession contracts.
What remains before it becomes law
At the time of this update, parliament listed the measure in its passed-bills database, a section that covers bills whose publication in the Government Gazette is still pending. A law and Gazette number are therefore not attributed here. The final published text will determine which provisions take effect and when.
The public consultation ran from 11 to 28 September. The regulatory-impact analysis recorded 25 comments and said three observations were incorporated, while the Economic and Social Council called for transparency, user protection and effective public oversight.
