BYD DOLPHIN SURF: five seats and an updated cabin for 2026
BYD’s small electric car gains a five-seat option, while Comfort upgrades its screens and connected services.

Manufacturer announcement: 28 September 2026
Key manufacturer specifications
- Powertrain: fully electric.
- Batteries: 30 or 43.2 kWh, depending on version.
- Luggage capacity: 308 litres.
- Comfort: 12.8-inch central display.
The substantive change
The DOLPHIN SURF update mainly concerns everyday practicality. BYD adds a third rear seat, with a separate adjustable head restraint for each rear passenger. Four-seat and five-seat versions will coexist depending on each market’s needs; not every version is being replaced by a single configuration.
Cabin and electric platform
In Comfort, the central display grows to 12.8 inches and the instrument panel to 8.8 inches. Google Built-in is added and the drive selector moves to the steering column. Boost and Comfort gain a heated steering wheel. The e-Platform 3.0 and Blade Battery remain: 30 kWh in Active and 43.2 kWh in Boost and Comfort. BYD reports up to 322 kilometres of combined range for Boost.
What buyers should compare
For a small city car, the approved number of seats can matter as much as range. Compare rear-seat use, luggage room and available charging arrangements together. Manufacturer measurements do not guarantee the same range on every trip. The European release does not specify a Greek price or delivery date for the five-seat version here.
