On 30 October 2026, the education ministry issued decision 146908/D5 announcing the Greece–Cyprus national competitions for general and vocational lyceums and other school sports activities for 2026–2027. Local organising committees within secondary-education directorates are instructed to arrange the events.

Sports and participation limits

The programme includes basketball, volleyball, handball, football and athletics. Other Olympic sports may also be organised in cooperation with the relevant federations under the existing rules.

Each pupil may participate in one team sport plus one event or category in an individual sport. The central organising committee conducts team-sport draws for phases B and C after the competition notice and before those phases begin.

Next steps

A separate circular will set the opening date for phase A of athletics. Pupils and parents can obtain event schedules from their school and the relevant education directorate. The fair-play award continues this year, with priority given to the finals.
