Hydration: making water a daily habit
Fluid needs vary; regular intake is more useful than one identical target for everyone.

Hydration need not begin only when a workout ends. The NHS recommends drinking regularly throughout the day, with water as a simple, inexpensive choice.
The UK guideline of six to eight cups or glasses of fluid is a guide. Heat, prolonged activity or illness may increase needs. Food and other drinks also supply fluids.
Thirst, darker urine and urinating less may be associated with dehydration. A bottle in a visible place is a simple reminder, not a reason to force down large amounts.
If you have specific medical instructions about fluids, follow them. Persistent dizziness or marked illness needs medical assessment rather than automatically being attributed to too little water.
