Sudan: UK sanctions 15 commanders and announces new humanitarian support
The 26 October announcement provides for travel bans and asset freezes. Separate funding includes £5 million for survivors and £10 million for humanitarian assistance.

Britain announced on 26 October 2026 sanctions against 15 senior commanders from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), whom it links to suspected atrocities, including conflict-related sexual violence.
According to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the measures include travel bans and asset freezes on those designated. The announcement came one year after the fall of El Fasher.
Two separate funding allocations
London announces £5 million to support survivors of sexual violence, including healthcare, psychosocial support and safe spaces. It also provides for £10 million for the humanitarian response, including water, sanitation, health and protection services in displacement areas and El Obeid.
Sanctions and allegations, rather than a court conviction
The attribution of responsibility reflects the British government’s position in announcing the sanctions and is not presented as a final judicial finding. The funding allocations are announced support; they do not establish that services or supplies have already reached recipients.
