Taiwan: authorities urge residents to avoid unnecessary outings during Champi
The official operations-centre bulletin warns of strong winds and extremely heavy rain. ERT reports one death and more than 500 injuries.

Taiwan’s Central Emergency Operations Center (CEOC) is urging residents to avoid going out unless necessary, in its official Typhoon Champi briefing number 7, dated 24 October 2026.
The Ministry of the Interior’s National Fire Agency says the typhoon deviated and turned, continuing to bring strong winds and extremely heavy rain. It calls for attention to personal safety. The advice concerns unnecessary outings and is not presented as a blanket curfew.
Reported impact
ERT’s report at 07:14 Athens time, citing ANA-MPA, Reuters and AFP, reports one death, more than 500 injuries and approximately 56,000 households still without power. It also describes uprooted trees, damaged electricity lines and local flooding.
The figures relate to that report’s update time and may change as restoration continues. CEOC’s official advice remains to avoid unnecessary exposure to the conditions.
