Thessaloniki Metro will operate around the clock on Saturday 17 October 2026, according to the operator’s official announcement posted on 15 October.

The extended service is part of the 20th European Night Without Accidents, organised by the Panos Mylonas Road Safety Institute, offering an alternative means of getting home after a night out.

What is confirmed about services

The operator confirms 24-hour metro operation for this particular event. This is not an announcement of permanent Saturday overnight service. Its text does not specify night-time train frequencies or announce free travel.

The institute also says Thessaloniki’s OSETH and OASTH transport organisations are participating, with selected bus routes running around the clock. The metro notice does not provide a detailed bus timetable; passengers should check their own route with the relevant operator before going out.

Plan the journey home

The initiative encourages groups to choose a designated driver who will not drink alcohol before their evening begins, or to arrange to return by public transport. Institute volunteers will participate at selected venues.
